Damini Grover - Counseling Psychologist | Emotional Intelligence Facilitator | Life Coach | Author

Talk us through your background and your journey as an individual and entrepreneur.

I am a Counselling Psychologist, Life Coach, Internationally Certified Heal Your Life & Emotional Intelligence Facilitator. I am also a Writer at the Elephant Journal and have authored two books – a Hindi  Poetry book titled ‘Rehguzar’ and a self-help book titled ‘The Intentional Being’.

I also have Podcasts on Spotify in association with Kyaamatlab.com.

I am a ‘Jack of all trades’ and Master of none and that for me is a lot of fun!
I have had a very interesting journey both personally and professionally and everything put together has made me the person & professional that I am today. I come from a family of Doctors and academics were given a lot of priority. I struggled a lot in school as far as studies were concerned. Maths, Science were always my enemies! I found solace in studying Hindi, English and Social Studies. Therefore, I took up Humanities where I blossomed!
I enjoyed studying these subjects and adored all my teachers who helped me find & nurture my talents for Writing and Oration.
At first, I was inclined towards Mass Media but I guess destiny had other plans and I found myself into the field of Psychology. I’ve always believed that I was destined to be a Psychologist. Even though I tried my hand at different things during the course of my career, I found my calling in this field. I completed my Graduation from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi university & Masters in Counselling from Amity University. I started working as an independent Practitioner straight out of my Masters and have worked with hundreds of individuals from different walks of life. I have been a part of transformations of several individuals and it has been a fulfilling journey so far!

If you had to start over; would you choose a corporate career or being an entrepreneur and why?
I would always choose to be an Entrepreneur because I am free bird! I set my own terms, work as per my wish and because I have multiple interest and being an Entrepreneur gives me the opportunity to dabble in so many other things! While I love to work with people and interact with them, I am at my best when I’m working by myself.

What is the hardest challenge you faced in your career and how did you turn it into an opportunity?
When I began my practice, the biggest hurdle was lack of awareness, willingness & hesitation among people towards Counseling & Therapy. In fact at one point I was ready to give up and switch to another profession! However, as I said this was my calling; I found my back to it. I persisted and made it work. It has taken a lot of time, hard- work and persistence but it has been truly fulfilling.

Tell us about the uniqueness of your brand startup?
My brand I’M Powered is based on the philosophy that ‘When I’m powered, I explore, resolve, change and evolve’ i.e I believe that we have an innate capability to transform ourselves & become better with each passing day. The more we tap into our internal resources, the more empowered we become.
I am driven by my values of growth, harmony & balance which are reflected in my work.
I as a Psychologist, Life Coach & Facilitator aim to empower people by making them more self-aware & facilitate their journey towards growth.

What is your business success mantra that you have embraced as you sought to establish your success story?
My Mantra is : Explore – Resolve- Change – Evolve i.e to enable individuals to become emotionally aware, empowered & to move towards a higher version of themselves.
When my Coachees & Clients begin to transform into the best version of themselves, that’s when I know that I am successful.

One special Quote/message for all communities/brands
We are the centre of our universe. We are the source of everything in our lives- personal and professional. Therefore, we must give ourselves the due importance that we need & deserve. It’s only when we nurture ourselves , we are able to nurture other areas of our lives.
